Exercise Through Cancer
At Rebound Health, we believe exercise is a cornerstone of cancer care. Research led by the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia highlights that exercise should be integrated into cancer treatment at every stage—before, during, and after. Our CanStrong Program provides a tailored approach to help individuals harness the benefits of exercise, no matter where they are on their cancer journey.
CanStrong
Why Exercise During Cancer Treatment?
Exercise is not just safe but essential for people with cancer. Its benefits include:
Reducing treatment side effects: Combat fatigue, nausea, and neuropathy.
Improving physical function: Maintain strength, mobility, and independence.
Boosting mental health: Alleviate anxiety, depression, and stress.
Enhancing treatment outcomes: Studies show improved survival rates and reduced recurrence with regular exercise.
Our team of experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) specialise in cancer care. We provide guidance to make exercise accessible, enjoyable, and impactful, tailored to your unique needs and treatment plan.
Research has shown that inactivity may increase rates of recurrence for several cancers and may have an effect on survival. It is therefore important that you stay as active as possible during and after your treatment. Exercise has also been shown to improve some of the side effects of cancer treatment - both chemotherapy and radiotherapy - as well as managing the side effects of medication.
